Recording type: Studio
Recording mode: Stereo

Album notes
THE LAST PARTY is a companion album to the book THE LAST PARTY: STUDIO 54, DISCO AND THE CULTURE OF THE NIGHT by Anthony Haden-Guest.
Includes liner notes by Anthony Haden-Guest.
Photographer: Robin Platzer.

One can probably date the demise of disco to the closing of the original Studio 54. THE LAST PARTY was compiled to serve as audio companion to the same-titled book that definitively chronicled those not-so-long-ago days and nights at New York's celebrated dance palace. In the process, the disc gathers together such latecomers as Was Not Was, Kid Creole & The Coconuts and Material w/ Nona Hendryx, none of whom are ordinarily found on the usual compilations. Add to this a sprinkling of reggae-flavored tracks such as Third World's "Now That We Found Love" and Grace Jones's "Pull Up to the Bumper" as well as rarities like the soaring Eurotrash anthem "I Love America" and "Deputy of Love." This last track was recorded by one of original Dr. Buzzard founder August Darnell's many side projects, among which Kid Creole was the most successful. What you have then is perhaps the most glamorous, cosmopolitan portrait of the disco age yet, which is pretty much the way it saw itself in the Warholian mirror that was late-'70s New York.

Track listing
(Note - tracks 1-15 have been merged into one continuous mix for your listening and dancing pleasure. 16 was a stand alone track but very appropriate!)
